This is my first set of drafts for my school magazine cover, this is part of my pleminary task to illustrate how i think the magazine may look. As you can see i have chosen a simple but bold headline which would draw the readers attention. I used a variety of images as my questionnaire indicated that images attract the attention of readers more compared to huge sums of text. I overlapped the images as i noticed when researching current school magazines, this was an eye catching feature that i believed would be a good idea to use.

Here used a new stylish masthead which i developed off my research on school magazines, as you can see it is bold, consistent and the largest piece of text. As a reader i would find the masthead appealing therefore it would be good in drawing the readers attention towards the text. Rather than wrapping the text in line format around the image, i used shapes and kept the writing to a minimal to ensure the attention of the reader wasn't lost. I also tried to use a a big medium close up on my front cover as it would indicate what the magazine may be out.

On this draft i chose to go for a funky stylish design for the masthead which would attract readers as its unusual and different, this would help draw attention to important ideas in the magazine. I inserted a barcode as most magazines currently use bar codes therefore to maintain a elegent look i followed this idea. As you can see i used the logo on the contents page which makes the page seem more official which in some cases may be more appealing resulting in more people reading the weekly school magazine.
